Welcome to the website for the Town of Franklinton! Known as “The Fair City”, we are located approximately 70 miles north of New Orleans and serve as the parish seat for Washington Parish. Located on the banks of the Bogue Chitto River, Franklinton is home to the country’s largest free fair – the Washington Parish Fair. Held the third week of every October, our fair offers something for everyone.

During summer months, many people enjoy a day of fun-in-the sun by tubing on the Bogue Chitto River. The Bogue Chitto State Park is another popular attraction. Located just 6 miles south of Franklinton, the state park is a popular destination for camping, fishing, hiking, horseback riding and other outdoor activities.

Franklinton is also home to The Louisiana Castle, an English Norman Keep Castle replica that hosts many events from weddings to high school proms and other parties. Schedule your event or tour of The Louisiana Castle today!

Franklinton still has its small-town values while offering residents a wonderful place to raise their families. Our growing Industrial Park is home to several manufacturers with room for more. Contact the Franklinton Area Economic Development Foundation for information about bringing your business to Franklinton. We would love to have you in Franklinton to spend a day or a lifetime!
