Franklinton Parks and Recreation

The original Parks and Recreation Board was recently moved to the parish level where Recreation Districts were created. This is Recreation District #1. As a government entity under the Parish Council, the board is able to help more kids as well as apply for larger funding. The board is currently working on acquiring land and funding to construct a recreation complex that would have baseball and softball complexes, soccer and football fields, walking paths, playgrounds, pavilions and more.

Local youth leagues have approximately 550 boys and girls that participate in youth baseball, 350 in girls softball and 250 in football, basketball and soccer.

The board is comprised of members appointed by the Parish President and Parish Councilmen who live in Recreation District #1
